- Secondary Hypertension
This type of high blood pressure usually appears suddenly. Aside from that, it also causes a higher amount of blood pressure than Primary Hypertension. There are a lot of contributing factors that lead to secondary hypertension. These are:
- Thyroid Problems
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea
- Tumors in Your Adrenal Gland
- Kidney problems
- Illegal Drugs (e.g., amphetamines and cocaine)
- Some Medications namely Birth Control Pills, Decongestants, & Pain Relievers that are over-the-counter
- Congenital Blood Vessel defects from Birth
What Are The Causes of High Blood Pressure?
High Blood Pressure can be caused by a lot of factors. Some of these are complications from other health problems such as Kidney Failure, Adrenal Gland Tumor, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Thyroid Problems. Others are also caused by the condition that they’re born with, such as the Congenital Blood Vessel Defects. It can also be caused by drugs and medicines.
What Is Normal Blood Pressure?
- Less than 120/80 is considered normal
- 120-129/ lesser than 80 is already elevated
- 130-139/80-89 is already Stage 1 High Blood Pressure
- 140 & above/90 & above is at Stage 2 High Blood Pressure
- If it is higher than 180/ higher than 120, you’re at a Hypertension Crisis. You should see your doctor right away.
